A two-part course for Beginners/Intermediate printmakers that will enable you to create beautiful, sculptural collagraph prints that use texture and colour. Collagraph is a wonderful way of creating very textured prints with soft, rich colours and this course will introduce you to its strengths and possibilities. You will learn how to design and build up a collagraph plate using a range of materials. Experimentation and playing with materials is encouraged. The second session will teach you how to print your collagraph plate. You will learn how print your plate using the beautiful Rochat press. You will learn about different inking techniques, as well as making a 'blind' print.

Learn how to use vintage lead type and printing presses to print a short text. Using 1960s Adana letterpress machines you will learn how to set, lock up and print a text of your choice. No previous experience is needed for this course. Beginners are welcome, along with those who need a refresher.

Join renowned printmaker Polly Marix Evans for an immersive linocut workshop, where you’ll learn to combine hand-carved letters with complementary images to create your own unique prints.

You will design your own block with a combination of lettering and images, involving reversing images, carving and then printing using lino cut techniques. Whether you’re new to printmaking or looking to enhance your printing skills, this workshop will allow you to explore creative lettering with lino cut, under the expert guidance of professional artist, Polly Marix Evans.

This one-day course will teach you the basics of creating a repeat pattern. Yoou will learn about design elements and geometry. You will create a pattern that tessellates seamlessly and looks effective and then transfer that to a linocut. You will then learn about printing it on a surface of your choice with variations and improvisation, and exploring colour themes.

No previous experience is needed for this course. Beginners are welcome.

The Maker's Mill, Keswick.

10am - 4pm

A one-day workshop suitable for beginners and those with a little experience, we will be working from photos or sketches of our beautiful lake district fells to create artworks to take home. Even people who say they cannot draw, create beautiful linocut prints.

We will provide a relaxed and nurturing atmosphere and you will get the opportunity to work at your own pace.

In the weeks before the workshop, we’ll be in contact by email with notes on choosing a suitable image to work from. Bringing pre-selected images and ideas will enable us to spend more time printing on the day. And if you are struggling for ideas, we can help with that too.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have designed, cut and printed your own multiple-colour artworks to take home, which can be framed or made into cards.

This workshop is a collaboration between Cyanotype printing specialist Kim Tillyer (witchmountain), and textile artist Jenny Brook ( Boo and the Noodle) and will be held at Jenny’s lovely Cumbrian cottage home. Participants should be aware that this is a domestic setting and expect a professional but friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

You will learn about eco-printing/dying techniques using natural and found objects, bundle dying over an open fire using leaves and plant material. In addition, you will be introduced to cyanotype printing techniques using plants.

A tactile and immediate method of making vibrant, layered prints using simple materials. You will learn the basics of how to create gelli prints using a wide range of exciting materials and then print in multiple layers, using the translucency/opacity of different paints to create really stunning/subtle/complex visual effects using acrylic paints. Please note that we will be using handmade gelli plates that are made from animal gelatine (beef/pork).

Experience level
No previous experience is needed for this course. Beginners are welcome, as well as those who already have a gelli plate and want to learn a variety of techniques.

A two-part course taking you from planning, design, cutting, registration through to final printing of a two-colour reduction linocut.

It would be helpful if you have attended a full or half-day Linocut course or have some experience of Linocut to make the most of this course.

Course programme
Planning, design, block preparation and cutting. Accurate registration and printing first colour. Preparation for second colour. Second colour cutting and printing. Colour blends and editioning your prints.

Those of you who follow this talented printer selling her amazing pieces on Etsy, under the name PollysUtterlyMe, may delighted in the opportunity to print alongside her, using some of her sassy blocks!

Spend a day with Polly devising your own meaningful, printed 'piece' from a word, picture, name or letter, to make someone smile! Draw it out, transfer to Lino under Polly's careful guidance and create your own original Lino Cut Print into which you can incorporate Polly's wonderful ready-cut blocks of figures and/ or symbols if you wish.

Learn how to create beautiful handprinted birds from re-purposed TetraPak drink cartons under the guidance and tuition of artist and printmaker Emily Brooks. A new and exciting course for this year which is suitable for both beginners and those with experience, this one-day workshop will give you the skills and confidence to continue printmaking at home.

A tradition printmaking method adapted for our age. We will provide a relaxed and nurturing atmosphere, and you will get the opportunity to work at your own pace. Our tutor will be on hand to guide you along, whatever your level of experience – even people who say they cannot draw create beautiful prints.
