Polly Marix Evans
Polly’s linocuts feature 'Bun-Head', her small and feisty hero, who depicts the ups and downs of the recovery from traumatic experiences, the struggle to love and value yourself in a world where the female voice is often ignored or suppressed, and the need to set boundaries and say what you think.
Bun-Head is based on Polly, her daughters and many female friends and acquaintances.
‘I never know what Bun-Head will do next, she’s almost like my subconscious mind! She surprises me with her ability to inspire me in my creativity and help me, and others, process our emotions. Viewers don’t need to know my exact reasons for making this art, they can draw from it what they themselves need, it speaks to each person on an individual level.’
Polly studied Fine Art Printmaking at Manchester School of Art. She works from her home in the Eden Valley in Cumbria.
Polly is available for workshops and tuition in linocut. Please contact her through her website using the link below.
